The UK’s 5.7 million small and medium sized businesses generate £1.9 trillion for the UK economy. Just 36,510 of these generate £1.3trn, nearly 70% of this. These high-powered businesses are known as scaleups – businesses with average annual growth in employees or turnover greater than 20% over three years.
