Opened in 2012, the Bo Children's Hospital is committed to building a better future for children in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Since our official opening, we have provided life saving treatment and care for over 25,000 young children. The Bo Children's Hospital is the vision of one man and the result of cooperation between three international communities. As the project has progressed it has become apparent that what is being built is more than a children’s hospital; it is part of a process for a community to rebuild itself. Faced with the social and physical devastation of a horrific war and an infant mortality rate that is one of the highest in the world, the local community has managed to build a children’s hospital which opened in the very week that the man responsible for the country’s devastation was convicted of war crimes. The hospital is ultimately a tribute to a community wanting to build a better future and the generosity of humanity across international borders.
