Māia Health Foundation is a charitable trust that was launched in May 2016 to enhance health services in Canterbury and the wider South Island. Māia is the official charity partner of the Canterbury District Health Board, with a vision to ‘be the difference’ – taking our health services from good to great. Māia has raised more than $10 million to date. This has gone towards a large, future-proofed rooftop helipad and clinical support unit for Waipapa Christchurch Hospital to provide emergency care on touchdown, enhancements to the children’s facilities including parent beds in every child's room and an indoor play area, a refurbishment of the Burwood Spinal Unit, and a number of other individual projects. The next project will focus on fundraising for child and youth mental health services.
