SEVA Service Learning
www.sevaservicelearning.eduWhat are kids missing right now as they enter the global workplace? What is it that sets your kids apart from the students at other schools in this area? Students entering the global workplace are at a disadvantage, and we would argue that this can traced back to missed opportunities in their K-12 educational experience. The answer to this dilemma is actually quite simple: teachers. By becoming service learning experts through personal experience, teachers will then empower students to become critical, creative and compassionate agents of change. We will help you generate a customized approach to integrating service learning projects into your established curriculum. This type of program will not compete against, but rather complement, your school's academic mission. We will work individually with your teachers to find entry points that link curricular objectives to meaningful service, which could range from a third grade math unit to a tenth grade literary essay. Your teachers will travel with us to Nepal to formulate, execute and reflect upon their own service project based on their respective subject areas. This is professional development to the tenth degree because your teachers will set the bar themselves. Your teachers will walk back into their classrooms with a real-world, global experience, a deeper passion for experiential learning, and most importantly, a plan of action.
