C-re-a.i.d.: -Change -REsearch -Architecture -Innovation -Design is a nonprofit organisation; which conducts research by design on the possibilities of architecture. Through architectural projects we aspire a place where people are creatively inspired within a hand reach to participate in an affordable, ecological and sustainable building culture. Architecture is much more than a tool to merely enhance material condition! With architecture being the professional background of the founder of C-re-aid, the concentration of the organisation lays on housing in informal settlements. Through close cooperation with local craftsmen and community councils we are able to establish the much needed foundation for future innovation. Technical skills on-site, as well as an open communication with the parties involved, are equally as important as architectural design when trying to establish a place where people are creatively inspired. This methodology offers the possibility to share knowledge and thus generates a platform from which both C-re-aid and local parties gain benefit. The organisation is active since 2012 and has conducted several projects in rural areas of Moshi, Tanzania. Since 2016 C-re-aid opened a second branche in Nungwi, Zanzibar.
