The Trinidad and Tobago Chapter, a voluntary non-profit organization, was accepted as a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors on 30th September, 1988 at a Conference held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Chapter has over 265 members enlisted. The Chapter was incorporated by an Act of Parliament (Act #21 of 1991) with its main objectives being to: - • Increase knowledge and skills of its members as regards internal auditing and the practice and methods thereof. • Establish and maintain high standards of integrity, honour and character of its members. • Promote and protect the welfare and interest of the Institute and the internal auditing profession in Trinidad and Tobago. The Chapter's membership is comprised of those from State Enterprises, Private Companies, the Public Service, Statutory Bodies, Professional Firms and individuals, Credit Unions, Banks and Educational Institutions. Over the years the Chapter has had the support of the Chief Executive Officers, Heads of Departments, Prominent business personnel and Parliamentarians not only by encouraging the participation of staff in Chapter Affairs but also by sponsoring activities, serving as guest speakers or panelists at Seminars/Workshops organized by the Chapter.
