JK Martial Arts
www.jk-martial-arts.comJK Martial Arts We are an all inclusive school teaching neuro-diverse and neuro-typical learners. The instructors customize and adapt to your challenges to assure your success. Challenges such as on the spectrum, ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, OCD and ODD, or physical. Our curriculum benefits people of all ages. It is structured, methodical and repetitive, creating an environment with boundaries, discipline and a set routine, all of which help foster students’ success. Teachers use multisensory instruction, and adapt their teaching to students’ different learning styles and mind and body capabilities. Their customized approach to teaching, combined with positive reinforcement and rewards, ensure students experience success in every class. Research shows that exercise can optimize brain function and physical health. Indeed, karate helps improve focus, memory, mood, self-confidence, mind-body connection and complex motor skills. It also increases strength, flexibility, balance and cardio performance. We teach a form of karate known as Shorei-Ryu, which originated in Okinawa, Japan. Students learn katas, a prepared combination of moves, self-defense and the principles of fitness. They also gain the skills necessary to participate in competition. Equally important, JK Martial Arts students learn the values they need to prepare for, and better navigate, life outside the studio, including respect, discipline, honor and humility. Are you an OT/PT or OTA /PTA, or a current student in the Twin Cities? Would you like to learn karate while using your therapy skills to become a karate instructor? Contact Sensei Katherine Engstrom to explore the possibilities! 763-253-9016 sensei@jk-martial-arts.com
