In 1985 Approved Hydraulics, like many start-up businesses began by one entrepreneur with skills to offer to the market. Due to the specific technical expertise gained through a full engineering training and working background, the company primarily began life as a hydraulics service company with the main focus on lorry mounted crane installation, service and repair. A massive boost to growth of the fledgling company arose in 1987 after MD Geoff Hindle attained a scholarship to Manchester Business School and expansion quickly followed, employing more experienced mobile service engineers, opening new workshops and a sales office offering a wide range of hydraulics products to expand the business into new markets. In 2007 after 22 years of growth in the service engineering of hydraulic equipment, the company made a bold, strategic and scalable growth plan by concentrating on the sales of niche products. Move forward to 2018 and the company has now expanded quickly by having a clear view of direction with its two main focuses of growth being on: Hydraulics attachments sales for use in Forestry, construction, subsea, Demolition & Agriculture Key hydraulic components and bespoke items aimed at supplying OEM’s and retailers: Control Valves, Hydraulic Cylinders, Motors, PTO & Pumps for the commercial vehicle markets, Radio Remote Controls and a host of associated products Approved Hydraulics now boasts an enviable range of sole distribution agreements with some of the best manufacturers in the world. Further assistance from Manchester Business School and Cranfield University has helped the company become a multi-million pound business and has equipped the company well for the future. Growth will continue at a good pace over the coming years. Approved Hydraulics remains a family run business and with Geoff’s son Adam Hindle joining the company a couple of years ago having gained his engineering degree at Salford University, the future has never looked so exciting!
