The Gateway School of Mumbai is a non-profit school established by The Keshavlal V. Bodani Education Foundation (Mumbai, India) in affiliation with the Gateway School of New York. It is dedicated to helping students with learning disabilities between the ages 5 to 18 years, to develop the skills, knowledge, understandings and attitudes necessary for them to lead fulfilling and productive lives - as successful individuals and active contributors in society. At Gateway, we firmly believe in the concept of neuroplasticity. With the appropriate interventions, all students can learn and there is no ceiling or plateau to their learning capacity. The academic component of Gateway-Mumbai's curriculum consists of a mix of internationally acclaimed, research -based programs that we have adapted for use in the Indian context. Content covered in classes is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to undertake the IGCSE (Cambridge University Examinations) or NIOS (National Open University) subjects in Middle School. Along with its educational programming, Gateway-Mumbai also provides students with range of Support Services/Therapies, addressing the specific additional needs that its children require in order to function at their full potential cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically. These services, which are interwoven into the School's educational curriculum, include Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Counselling/Psychotherapy and Nutrition/Health Program Planning among others. The Gateway School of Mumbai campus is located in Govandi, adjacent to Chembur in the geographic center of the city. The school's infrastructure includes uniquely designed classrooms, well-stocked libraries, high-tech computer labs, several dedicated spaces for small-group/one-on-one therapy and related services, and a state-of-the-art Sensory Gym and Indoor Sports Gym.
