The Day
www.theday.co.ukWe publish daily news to help teachers inspire pupils to become critical thinkers and better citizens by engaging their natural curiosity in the real-world. We believe that investigating what is true and exposing misinformation enables people to make good choices and fulfil their potential. We work towards a world where young people everywhere learn how to ask good questions, debate the issues, listen to others and develop a powerful voice in shaping a better future. The Day is a daily news title for use in teaching, for ages 5 to 18. It provides schools with unlimited access to activities that bring big global issues into the classroom through daily news written in-house, polls, videos, images, graphics, translations and links for external guided research. We engage all learners and inspire comprehension, experiential learning, project work and the acquisition of core knowledge about the real world. The Day has a loyal and growing membership in over 70 countries and its effectiveness is supported by multiple case studies and endorsements. “Can't imagine being without this site now that I know it exists. By far, the best cross-curricular educational resource I've seen in years!” Hayley Bourne, Curriculum Leader MFL, Our Lady & St Chad Catholic Academy “Teachers know they can click on an email and reliably get interesting and accessible stories... The immediacy of The Day saves busy teachers a lot of research time.” Philippa Nunn, Headteacher, Waldegrave School "The Day meets a genuine student need e.g. independent learning, engagement with the wider world and literacy. It also meets genuine school needs e.g. evidence for OFSTED of provision of citizenship, PSHE, Gifted and Talented. It’s proving a great way to enable students to access relevant stories about current affairs [...] It is accessible no matter what the age group or background of students." Stephen Adcock, Teacher, Burlington Danes Academy, Hammersmith, London
