Downtown Boston Business Improvement District
www.bostonbid.orgThe Downtown Boston Business Improvement District Corp. is a private nonprofit created and funded by property and business owners committed to revitalizing this historic and treasured neighborhood. We serve the Theater District, Ladder District, Downtown Crossing, and the Financial District through programs and supplemental services to create a clean, welcoming, and vibrant downtown. The Downtown Boston Business Improvement District is Boston’s first BID and one of only six in Massachusetts. A binding assessment levied on all commercial property owners based on property value funds BID activities. A 33-member board of directors elected by BID members oversees the organization. This board represents the cross-section of Boston’s business and residential communities found in the district and is responsive to property owners, retailers and residents. It participates in the management, programming and budget decisions, which are implemented by a full-time staff that manages daily operations. The BID continually works to significantly improve the experience of all who live, work, visit, go to school or shop in the Downtown Boston area by: • Providing supplemental services to keep the streets and sidewalks clean, upgrade the aesthetic appearance of the district, and make people feel welcomed and safe • Promoting and fostering an energetic and thriving business climate in the area • Serving as the voice and advocate for the district.
