SayKid

www.saykid.com

SayKid has developed the world's 1st screen-less, play-based learning platform. By combining voice technology and tangible play, we help kids learn in a safe, natural, and engaging way - by empowering kids to play the role of teacher. In doing so, we engage kids that are hard to reach and help build skills that are hard to teach while replacing screen-time with speech. We address some of the biggest problems facing kids: 1. Access to early childhood education - Early childhood (EC) is the most important period of development but the US has 4th lowest rate of EC enrollment. Effectively, 95% of brain development occurs before most kids are in school, before they can read, and when screens are discouraged. 2. Social, emotional, and language development - The skills most predictive of outcomes - language, empathy, self-control, etc. - require adaptive, back-and-forth interaction (e.g., conversational turns, modeling behavior, etc.) that is almost impossible to scale. We make experiential learning scalable. 3. Excessive screen time - The average kid spends ~2.5 hours / day in front of screens, which negatively impact language, social skills, and everything that is important for child development. Recent recognition - Grand Prize, Alexa EdTech Challenge - MN Cup "Moonshot" Prize for biggest breakthrough innovation - Finalist, Harvard Saul Zaentz Early Childhood Challenge - Runner-up, 2020 Assistive Technology Challenge - 20 Start-Ups to Watch in 2020
