BOLO Board is a social media app specifically designed with the LP/AP industry in mind. It functions as you would expect a social media app to allowing its users to connect and collaborate with each other, apart from the BOLO Alert form and the searchable database. BOLO’s (Be On the Look Out) is a collection of data from incidents as recorded by the users and indicated by the picture here. We have added “Identifying Marks or Characteristics” to this list at the request of the Director of Security at one of the local malls. When a BOLO form is completed and submitted it becomes an alert for other subscribers in the local area. Users can set a range for how far out they want to receive the alert. Anywhere from 5 miles (which is the default) up to 100 miles. Almost all of the fields within the form are then part of a searchable database of BOLO’s. This could be useful in fighting not only local shoplifting but also Organized Retail Crime due to the broad array of information and the fact that it is a nationwide app. Collaboration between colleagues across the US is possible through the app. This is a closed community app. We ask for verifiable information regarding the user’s place of employment and a phone number to call to verify. It is a subscription based service. The subscription cost is $1.00 per month per user. The first month is free. The app is going to be released soon in its 1.0 form. December 11th is the scheduled launch date. We were scheduled for November 22nd, but we did not want to release it until feel it can achieve as much as possible in the first version. I expect we will have a few bugs to work out and we are sure that we will get plenty of feedback. We are going to need all the feedback we can get to make it as good as it can be.
