What Do We Do? - Provide mentorship opportunities to health students to advance their professional goals and demonstrate how to engage with the social determinants of health in education and clinical practice. - Offer educational experiences to further members’ exposure to public health issues and guide them in creating collaborative and innovative solutions, drawing on experiences and knowledge from experts in the field. - Deploy interprofessional teams in meaningful service activities to engage in active problem solving and address the health inequities of their local communities. Who Should Join NAIHMES? - We welcome pre-health and health professions students from all programs to join us in our efforts, as our mission is to build an interprofessional team. This team includes medical, nursing, pharmacy, physician assistant, public health, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dental, veterinary, optometry, podiatry, paramedic, EMT, chiropractic, health chaplaincy, respiratory therapist, and audiology students, and more! - Anyone who is passionate about public health, wants to learn more about the social determinants of health, or simply wants guidance on how these play a role in their future career should join NAIHMES to learn more! - At this time, we are only able to work with students currently studying in the United States. Get involved by filling out the form on our sign up button. We have leadership opportunities available for students passionate about the social determinants of health, as well as mentorship, research, education, advocacy, and service opportunities for our members.
