PEN Canada envisions a world where writers are free to write, readers are free to read, and freedom of expression prevails. PEN Canada is one of over 100 chapters of PEN International. We are a nonpartisan organization of writers and readers that works with others to defend freedom of expression as a basic human right, both at home and abroad. Together with the international PEN community we work to celebrate literature, fight censorship, help free persecuted writers from prison, and assist exiled writers.
