Calumet Armature & Electric was founded in 1956 and is located in Riverdale, Illinois, a suburb south of Chicago. The Company’s business model today is similar to the original business model: repair and remanufacturing of industrial electrical motors. After being located in Chicago, the Company moved to its present location in Riverdale, Illinois in 1971. Today Calumet Armature & Electric is engaged in the manufacture and remanufacture of large AC and DC electric motors for industrial and transit applications. The industrial applications business includes large crane motors and factory machine motors (e.g., steel mills, rolling mills, etc.). The transit business manufacturers and rebuilds traction motors/armatures for the mass transit market throughout major metropolitan cities in the United States.
