www.lcis.com.ngThe Lagos State Criminal Information System (LCIS), formerly known as the Crime Data Register was created in 2004, The Lagos State Ministry of Justice in Conjunction with DFID/ British Council launched the project which was aimed to automate and computerise the procedures of the criminal Justice System in order to improve the efficiency and timeliness with which cases are handled and ultimately to have a database of suspect whether minor or major. In 2017, In line with the promise of the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and under the administration of the Commissioner for Justice / Honourable Attorney General Adeniji Kazeem to use Technology to drive the delivery of Justice in Lagos State, commenced the revival of the crime data project. The main aim of the LCIS project is to design and develop a crime data management system which provides a database of all the people who are in the criminal Justice System in Lagos state under the Lagos Prisons Command whether in remand, awaiting trial or convicted, ultimately, the information about any suspected or convicted criminal in the state,(this includes both current and historical cases) can be tracked through LCIS.
