Youth Diversion
www.ecyouthdiversion.caThe Essex County Diversion Program, commonly referred to as Youth Diversion (YD), has served thousands of young people across our region for over 35 years through effective community-based programs for youth. We promote and encourage changed attitudes and behaviours by providing challenging, accommodating programs and services in a variety of inviting settings. Using a youth perspective and research-based information, Youth Diversion raises awareness about issues affecting youth on topics such as sexting, bullying and cyberbullying, encouraging youth to develop skills that promote and support a positive response to self, others and the community. In addition to working with youth, Youth Diversion also educates parents, school administrators and community partners on how to best handle difficult subject matters through community presentations. Our valuable working partnerships with a variety of agencies in our community, as well as community support and volunteer contribution have all led to the overall success and longevity of Youth Diversion. We are a non-profit agency governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. Youth Diversion serves youth ages 10 – 17 throughout Windsor and Essex County with core funding from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (Youth Justice Division), Ministry of Attorney General and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
