The November 11th Foundation is an organization that will provide services to United States military veterans with disabilities, as well those in financial distress. The foundation’s intent is to operate programs to assist these veterans, as well as become a steward to help them become more involved and active in the communities they reside. The foundation’s vision is a “Provide the Means for Veterans in Need” not only helps veterans pursue the quality of life we all seek, but also helping their families cope and move forward. Communities will also benefit from these programs, while as veterans and their families are provided opportunities, they become better citizens. Through an aggressive advertising campaign, the foundation intends to cater to veterans and their families that may be in need of help. The November 11th Foundation has two inaugural programs; the Veterans Housing Institute and the Vacant Lots and Parking Spots initiatives. The Veterans Housing Institute will provide transitional housing for homeless veterans and permanent housing for low-income veterans and their families. The Vacant Lots and Parking Spots program has a dual role for the veterans and families it serves. Through the seasonal leasing of parking spaces and vacant lots, vegetables and fruits will be grown and harvested that will be distributed to organizations that provide food and service to veterans. Additionally, these gardens will be used for therapeutic activities for veterans and family members who are diagnosed with mental or physical disabilities. With the help of occupational, recreational, and other rehabilitative therapists, the foundation will promote and provide programs that will allow disabled veterans and family members heal and move forward.
