The Peter Westbrook Foundation
www.peterwestbrook.orgThe Peter Westbrook Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that uses the sport of fencing to enrich the lives of young people from underserved communities in the New York metropolitan area. Founded in 1991 by legendary sabre fencer and Olympic bronze medalist Peter Westbrook, the foundation is committed to empowering participants with essential life skills. Our Saturday Fencing Program and Academic Enrichment Program are the cornerstones of the organization, and to date have served more than 4,000 participants. Over the years, we have had tremendous success helping the young people that we serve reach their athletic, academic and personal potential. The Saturday Fencing Program is the pillar of the Peter Westbrook Foundation. Held weekly from 9am to noon, it offers beginner, intermediate and advanced fencing instruction. PWF provides all necessary equipment and prior skills are not required or expected. Additionally, our Academic Enrichment Program (AEP) provides subject tutoring, homework help, and standardized test prep to our scholar-athletes, grades 3-12. The program is housed in a professional space located less than one block from our fencing training facility at the Fencers Club. The hours of operation are from 12:30pm to 4:30pm on Saturdays. A team of college students, graduate students, licensed teachers, and educated professionals staff the program.
