After 6 years of being a mentor, career coach, advisor, and a sounding board for the black community, I developed a desire to start my own company, however I lacked the resources to do so. Upon speaking with one of my mentees, a light bulb went off for me; she said to me, “Damon, if we need you, then just imagine how many other people and students need you?” That moment stuck with me and was the turning point which led to me devoting my life into pouring into and lifting BIPOC first generation students up. I do this through coaching them to see their value and worth, while also leading them to securing positions with Fortune 500 companies. This led to me founding my company, The Blueprint Guru; A vessel for me to be the connective tissue and impact speaking practitioner that my community and so many others need. The Blueprint Guru was created for one sole purpose to equip students with the correct knowledge and insight to maximize their college experience on a professional level. My mission is to provide tools for them to land not only an internship, but also their first job out of college. We are focused on developing the plight of first-generation and BIPOC individuals at the High School, Collegiate and Corporate workforce levels. My team and I specialize in helping our clients get noticed by Fortune 500 companies, equipping them with the proper tools and skills to network efficiently. What makes us unique is that we link our clients' passion, culture and purpose to their job, through a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lense. More importantly, we take a deep dive into the strategy needed to maneuver through the invisible door, Corporate America, and address generational challenges. We have found that when our strategies are implemented, our system has provided an impact to empower our clients, whom we view as not only our future workforce, but leaders of the next generation.
