In 1997, a working group of public agencies from Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Canada and Switzerland started to work together on the identification of emerging and new healthcare technologies. This working group became the EuroScan International Network in 1999 and acquired legal status in 2017, becoming EuroScan International Network e.V., a not-for-profit scientific association registered in Germany connecting public agencies, scientific organizations and individuals across all continents. International HealthTechScan (i-HTS) is the new global collaborative structure created in 2020 to better reflect the increased global participation achieved by the Association. Five Regional Groups (RGs) have been created to strengthen the presence of the Association at local level across the continents. Through i-HTS, EuroScan International Network e.V. aims to persist in being the main global forum for sharing and developing of methods for early identification and pre-assessment of emerging, new, and obsolete health technologies. Its actions will be supported locally by the Regional Groups, especially for what concerns knowledge management and needs.
