BOOM! is a modern-day B2B, B2C cloud-based tech business adopting a marketplace, networking model on a mission to establish itself as THE development marketplace. As one of the world's least innovative industries our sector is being left behind. Too few understand the power of digitalisation and modern methods, and for deeply entrenched reasons a significant stakeholder majority operate in isolation rather than collaboration; in that sense this industry is the polar opposite of its tech counterpart. 4.5yrs ago the BOOM! concept germinated around the notion of unlocking an untapped market focussed on the desperate need to increase UK city densities – an indelible outcome if we are to succeed in achieving our net zero goals. Increased density was to be delivered through micro sites (1-4 apartments) and the custom build market by extant and new-entrant developers adopting greater digitalisation. By transforming landowners into development partners before connecting them to developers we will unlock a vast, inefficient, and declining market through a renaissance of SME developer activity. Their adoption of Industry 4.0 and the SaaS of an ever-expanding network of vanguard technology partners will revitalise a sector that has witnessed SME attrition of 80% since the late 80’s, and a consequential drop in output of 75%. Since our MVP launch in Oct 2019 we have grown into something bigger and broader in scope and possibility, and whilst we continue to attract micro sites, we now attract sites capable of supporting 1,000s of homes. We’ve grown from micro sites to micro towns. Our focus has shifted too. At inception, the sale of development land and appraisal tools was our focus. Today it’s about engaging all critical stakeholders across the development spectrum to deliver wanted development to market: the pipeline, digitalisation, appraisal and modelling tools, finance products and services, micro and macro community involvement, AEC and, critically, purchasers.
