Roots of Recovery
www.rootsofrecovery.orgFive acres. Five years. At Roots, we are working to decrease the number of women suffering from homelessness and poverty and reduce the number of children entering the foster care system. By providing safe homes, a comprehensive life skills program, personalized Peer Support, and building an overall healthy foundation for future progress, we see amazing results in the success of the women we serve. We have created a residential housing community at Roots to support women on their life journey, not just a place to live. Through peer-supported growth for women who are homeless, women with children, and pregnant women, we focus on the steps to successfully rebuild lives shattered by abuse, addiction, or poverty, including education, job training, and life skills. Since Roots began working to achieve our goals, we have opened three residential homes, a Community Center, an emergency shelter, a life-skills peer support program, and a computer lab for educational programs and job skills. Over the next five years, our development plan calls for an additional 21 tiny homes to meet the needs of women and children in crisis.
