Garden Route ICT Incubator

www.grincubator.co.za

The creation of the Garden Route ICT Incubator as a NPO (not for profit) company and PBO (public benefits organization) will provide local innovative ICT entrepreneurs with a safe and subsidized environment from which to launch products and build their businesses. It will further provide industry experts as mentors to assist young entrepreneurs with entering the mainstream ICT arena, building of strong market ready products and services, as well as hands on support in research and development. It is planned that the incubator could also play a vital role in leveraging seed funding and venture capital where required – if not directly, at least entities in a formal incubation system could be a more attractive investment. In some cases the lowered operational cost alone (through shared infrastructure and services) will improve an entities chance of survival due to lower start up cost. The Garden Route ICT incubator fits within the vision and anticipated future economic growth of George. The local authority will seek to actively market the city as a hi-tech research and development destination, with an additional strong focus on education as economic driver. Together we can build a strong ICT cluster in the Garden Route that will ultimately benefit local entrepreneurs, the local industry and economy and supply fully fledged businesses to compete on the national and international arena flying the South African flag.
