Historic House Trust of New York City
www.historichousetrust.orgThe Historic House Trust of New York City is a nonprofit organization and New York City Department of Parks & Recreation partner that ensures 23 historic house museums of cultural and community significance can tell their stories. Our partners are a variety of historic sites - from marionette theatre to mansion - and are located across all five boroughs on New York City parklands. We are a team of historic preservation experts and enthusiasts that believe the structural integrity of historic buildings is the foundation of telling New York’s story. We believe historic sites are not static antiquities – they are living institutions uniquely poised to address current issues in their communities and the world while retaining their connections to the past. Our organization is building a community of supporters who advocate for these precarious spaces in the long-term. These supporters allow us to address necessary building conservation and innovation needs that are often cost-prohibitive to museums, as well as work as advocates within NYCParks. With our minds on the infrastructure, our partners can support their notable collections and communities with varied programmatic activities - from history to computer science to ecology. We are dedicated to preserving our partners, protecting their collections, engaging diverse audiences, educating visitors, and sustaining the nonprofit organizations that operate these house museums.
