Established in 1969 as a local chapter of the National Audubon Society, we are a nonprofit, volunteer-led, environmental organization working throughout Pierce County, WA. We are committed to increasing diversity in our outlook, leadership, and community. We are located the Adriana Hess Audubon Center in University Place, Washington. Our mission is "to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity." We offer environmental education programs for youth and adults, birding field trips, and a free monthly speaker series at our membership program, held on the fourth Thursday of each month (except August, December and February). We are proud to partner with Forterra (formerly Cascade Land Conservancy) and the Morse Force volunteers to provide experiential learning opportunities for families and school groups at the Morse Wildlife Preserve in Graham, Washington. Our Conservation Committee serves as our eyes and ears on the ground tracking important land use issues and opportunities for conservation and responses to potential threats to important habitats and attacks on regulations meant to protect the habitats, ecosystems and watersheds we all live in. We are always looking for volunteers to take on leadership roles and help us meet our mission of connecting people to nature!
