Relational Coordination Collaborative (RCC)
www.relationalcoordination.orgRelational Coordination Collaborative (RCC) is a global community of leaders, researchers and change agents sharing ideas and methods of applying the transformational approach of relational coordination (RC). The RCC is at the Institute for Health and Social Systems (IEHSS) in The University of New Hampshire College of Health and Human Services. Relational coordination (RC) is a mutually reinforcing process of communicating and relating for the purpose of task integration. Relationships of shared goals, shared knowledge and mutual respect promote frequent, timely, accurate, problem-solving communication. Together, these seven dimensions form an empirically validated construct called relational coordination. Strengthening RC is especially relevant when work is interdependent, uncertain and time constrained. RC data can help to analyze the state of coordination and these data can identify opportunities for change and learning, help prioritize effort and resources, and enable tracking changes over time to assess the impact of interventions. An RC assessment can identify opportunities to build collaborative capacity, develop high performing teams and deliver desired outcomes including quality, efficiency, worker well-being, profitability and innovation.
