SAIA, n. o. is a non-governmental non-profit organisation implementing programmes and providing services aimed at enhancement of civil society, and assisting in internationalisation of education and research in Slovakia since 1990. Currently SAIA runs offices in five university towns (Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Nitra and Žilina) with 19 employees. In 2016, the overall budget for scholarships and projects in all programmes totalled over €2.1 million, including operational and other programme costs. SAIA major programmes in 2016: • Academic Mobility Programme • National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic • Action Austria – Slovakia, Cooperation in Science and Education • CEEPUS – Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies • Sciex-NMSch (Swiss-Slovak Scholarship Fund) • EEA Scholarship Programme Slovakia • EURAXESS Service Centres for Researchers SAIA financially supports: a) individual study and research mobility for citizens of the Slovak Republic abroad and for foreign nationals in Slovakia, and b) project cooperation of Slovak and international educational institutions. It also organises selection of scholarship recipients and selection of projects. Through its programmes SAIA provides information and advisory services, publishes information at its five web portals, in its monthly SAIA Bulletin and in publications, at seminars, exhibitions, and fairs in Slovakia and abroad.
