www.unitedway-jc.orgIn 1931 Leaders of the Steubenville Chamber of Commerce organized The Community Chest of Steubenville to address the needs of the community during the Depression Era. The $80,000 raised the first year went to support ten social service agencies.In 1976 The Community Chest of Steubenville became The Steubenville Area United Way. And in 1983 a merger occurred of the Mingo Community Chest and the Toronto Community Chest establishing The United Way of Jefferson County. The United Way of Jefferson County is a true reflection of the residents Jefferson County Ohio, a Community of people who help and care about one another.United Way is known for achieving lasting results that tackle our community’s most pressing issues at hand. This was proven in March of 2013 when the Jefferson County United Way 211 Information & Referral System became operational. Through fundraising efforts campaign goals have been achieved high above $400,000 allowing for the financial support of 18 member agencies and programs through monthly allocation distributions. This is possible because of hundreds of volunteers committed to making a difference in the community.
