The Kick Project

The Kick Project (TKP) is a global non-profit development organisation currently based in Finland (originally from Australia). We support and devise sport-based programs to help communities in need. Legacies like peace and community development are central aims and we weave joy and fun through all of our work. We believe that the most sustainable and most resilient communities are built from the child up. As such, working with a community’s younger members helps empower communities to steer clear of violence, prejudice and poverty. Football is our go-to sport, but we are not bound by that. Other sports can be just as effective, particularly in relation to getting girls involved. We have learnt that in some locations it might be difficult to get girls involved in football projects due to cultural reasons. Our basic template is to identify a community in need we feel we can work with. We then meet with community representatives and design new or support existing program(s) that suits their needs and fits our mission. All our programs are designed to add to the innate strengths of young people to overcome, interact and to grow. As part of our community-based approach we are especially dedicated to support our local partners with following: - Strengthening the good governance principles and policies - Finding sustainable and innovative ways to generate funds as a long-time solution (as a short-time solution single donations may be possible through partner network) - Creating strategic partnerships
