The reduction of GHG emissions will be complicated due to the poor energy efficiency and the low refurbishment rates of the European existing buildings. To reach this objective, the building sector requires a significant investment in energy retrofits in the existing property stock. However, many assets will not meet future energy efficiency standards and will not be financially viable. The project aims at supporting the industry by providing a tool to reduce the carbon-risk factors of these investments, taking into account the premature obsolescence and potential depreciation due to changing market expectations and legal regulations.
