www.alexandertechnique.co.ukThe Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) is the largest and oldest membership organisation of Alexander Technique Teachers. It was founded in the UK in 1958 by teachers who had trained with Frederick Matthias Alexander. STAT’s aims are to ensure the highest standards of teacher training and professional practice, to promote public awareness and understanding of the Alexander Technique, and to encourage research. Teaching members (MSTAT): a) are certified to teach the Technique after succcessfully completing a three-year, full-time training course approved by the Society or an affiliated society. b) adhere to the Society's published Code of Professional Conduct and hold professional indemnity insurance. There are currently over 2500 teaching members of STAT and its Affiliated Societies world-wide. The Society also runs a post-graduate programme of Continuing Professional Development. Publications: a) a triannual newsletter (STATNews) b) a biannual journal (The Alexander Journal)
