All Together Now (ATN) is a support organization for adoptive families. ATN offers fun, multiracial, and age-appropriate peer support groups and playgroups facilitated by adoptees for adopted kids from a wide spectrum of backgrounds. A committee of adoptees and adoptive parents organize the playgroups. ATN also provides space for adoptive parents to gather, connect and share resources. We are a cohesive and collaborative community and all groups – the children’s group, tween group, and parents’ group – are bridged together by an inclusive effort to expand and normalize the conversation surrounding adoption. We emphasize communication and connection between all of the groups in an effort to ensure that parents are acknowledging the unique experiences of their children, as well as being present in their own personal adoption journeys. ATN provides the opportunity to forge a bond between all members of this community – adoptive parents and adoptees alike, while providing a safe space for learning, self-expression, intrapersonal, and interpersonal development. Most importantly, every session creates a space for adoptees to build relationships with each other through engaging in community-building projects and physical activities. Both the facilitators and participants bring a myriad of experiences that contribute to this enriching intergenerational exchange.
