Architectural Dialogue
www.architecturaldialogue.co.ukAD was originally found as Architectural Tours by Victoria Thornton in 1980. Around 1986 it became Architectural Dialogue. The aim was to take British architects abroad and Victoria organised trips around the world, spreading out from pure architectural interests to also embrace visits to art fairs and private art galleries. AD had lots of followers and Victoria also provided regular monthly visits to private houses and other such places in London. By then Ken Allinson had become he partner and was drawn into the guiding business. In 1992 London Open House was set up and AD began to concentrate only upon London, dropping its international tours (to all over Europe, to north Africa, the USA, India and Japan). Today, AD provides for professional study groups coming to London to look at the city's architecture, particularly its contemporary works. We do, of course, also provide for any non-professional who is keen on the subject, and even for individuals as well as groups. However, the core of our activities concerns business-to-business groups on study tours - sometimes general, at other times having specific interests (from Russians looking at banks to Norwegians looking at schools). We emphasis enthusiasm, knowledge and being on the streets.
