CERONAV provides the theoretical and practical training of maritime, inland waterway, port and offshore personnel in accordance with national legislation, international regulations and training standards set by the various accreditation / recognition bodies. Romanian Maritime Training Centre - CERONAV dates back to 1976. It was established according to the orders of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications no. 1058 and 1096 under the name Civil Marine Workers Training Centre (CPLMC), in order to meet the training and improvement requirements of maritime navigation staff. In 1983, according to Order no. 491, it changes its name to the Civilian Marine Workers Training Centre (CIPLMC), taking over the Subsidiary of the Fluvial Navigation Training and Development Branch in Galati. In 1990, it also incorporates the Civilian Marine Personnel Qualification Centre, becoming, in 1992, the Centre for Training of Civilian Marine Personnel and Port Facility Personnel Qualification (CPPMC). In 2003, according to OG 33/2003 and HG 449/2003, CPPMC merges with the Centre for Training of Fluvial Navigation Personnel in Galati (CPPNF) becoming the Romanian Maritime Training Centre - CERONAV, the name it carries now.
