The Bear is a director-led, full service production company founded by Berndt Mader and Ben Steinbauer over a decade ago in Austin, Texas. In addition to feature films, we specialize in commercials and branded content for iconic brands. As a company, we have produced special projects with our friends Richard Linklater, David Gordon Green, the Austin Film Society, among others and look forward to collaborating with you too. We are best known for our cult classic comedy documentary, Winnebago Man (directed by Steinbauer); indie feature, Prince Avalanche (directed by Green); Yeti’s Soul of a City (directed by Mader); and the “C’Mon Ted!” campaign (directed by Linklater). Like the city we call home, our work is eclectic and diverse. Whether it's a feature film, television show, 30 second spot or something in between, we tell stories with humor and heart. Beyond our work, we love to play—mostly with our small children, and also as members of the Sandlot Baseball team, The Texas Playboys, leaders of the #sandlotrevolution.
