In the Running
www.intherunning.orgIn the Running was a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization connecting global endurance races with fundraising for youth fitness and philanthropic initiatives. Our Co-Founder Erin Sprague set a Guinness Book World Record as the Youngest Woman to run a Marathon on Seven Continents in 2008. She also cycled the then longest stage race in the world, the Tour d'Afrique, which was ~8,000 miles from Cairo to Cape Town in 2010. Co-Founders Dana Worth & Mahmoud Youssef also led via sweat equity to a six figure fundraise. The record-setting marathons were: Asia- The Beijing Marathon; USA- Walt Disney World Marathon; Europe- The Dublin Marathon; Africa- Mt. Kilimanjaro Marathon (plus a bonus climb up the peak!); South America- The Sao Paulo Marathon; Antarctica- The Antarctica Marathon (yes it exists); Australia- The Gold Coast Marathon. In the Running donated to grassroots fitness and philanthropic initiatives including: Girls on the Run; Right to Play International; The Tour d'Afrique Foundation; The Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition; Co-operation Ireland; KENWA; The Polaris Project; and the Silver Lining Foundation. We felt fortunate to be featured on/in The Today Show; SELF magazine; The American Airlines in-flight magazine; The Irish Times and Australian radio, among others. We have not obtained press from any Antarctic publications...yet. Like all epic races, In the Running reached its finish line in 2011. Its purpose-driven leaders have gone on to new start lines all around the world!
