Initiative for Affordable Housing, Inc.

www.affordablehousingatl.org

Initiative is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1990 with one house and one family to address the growing problem of homelessness in metro Atlanta. We operate with the belief that safe, stable housing is essential to thriving, and that housing interventions are most successful when we provide additional resources to strengthen and empower families. Our program provides up to 24 months of transitional housing, childcare, and transportation assistance and individualized social services to help families overcome recurrent homelessness. In addition, Initiative owns and operates 355 units of safe, permanent, affordable multifamily housing in low-rise complexes in Dekalb County and the City of Atlanta. Our innovative job training program, re:loom, provides a supportive work environment where program participants learn essential "soft skills" for future employment, as well as basics of micro project management and product design. To learn more about re:loom, including product sales, please visit http://reloom.org.
