Code Savvy
www.codesavvy.orgWe’re on a mission to empower all students and educators with the knowledge and skills to create with technology. By creating and promoting events and programs that give kids hands-on opportunities to work with code, we help build the confidence and problem-solving skills they need to excel in STEM. Our programs include: CoderDojo Twin Cities and Northfield CoderDojo, part of the global CoderDojo movement providing free and open learning to youth with an emphasis on computer programming. The Twin Cities chapter was founded to bring this movement to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, inspire other chapters, and partner with other organizations to better introduce kids to coding. Rebecca CoderDojo provides a girls-only space for girls to learn, collaborate, and innovate together. Technovation[MN] is Minnesota’s chapter of the global entrepreneurial and mobile app design competition for high school girls. Working with professional women mentors, all-girl teams develop a real-world combination of technical and entrepreneurial skills. Educator Programs Our work doesn’t stop with the kids. Because Minnesota currently offers no state funding for Computer Science educator professional development, our Educator Programs equip Minnesota’s teachers with the knowledge and resources they need to bring the latest Computer Science technologies to the classroom.
