After nearly 25 years of strategic development and urban planning, the South Bank precinct is almost complete, with only the Southpoint site remaining for development. The South Bank Corporation Act 1989 states that the Corporation’s management responsibilities would transfer back to Brisbane City Council once development was substantially complete within the South Bank precinct. As such, on 1 July 2013, the Corporation’s management responsibilities for the Parklands transferred to Council. South Bank Corporation continues to be responsible for, and committed to, the precinct’s commercial assets including the tenancies and underground car park. This includes the marketing and promotion of these assets through dedicated, innovative initiatives that raise the profile and increase the success of South Bank’s retailers. The Corporation also owns and manages the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is officially ranked among the world's top three convention centres. It offers an array of first class meeting spaces for business and leisure visitors. Over the years, South Bank Corporation has created Brisbane's multi-award winning precinct; one that has become a vibrant and inclusive space where local, interstate and international people meet, work and play. We are proud to continue managing some of the State's most prized assets and work closely with Brisbane Marketing and Brisbane City Council to ensure the precinct continues to be Brisbane’s premier public space, visited by more than ten million people each year.
