The South African Housing Club (SAHC) is a pioneering and innovative one-stop housing initiative that supports low and medium-income employees better access to safe, decent, affordable and sustainable housing. The SAHC is a membership-based housing support programme provided to employees on behalf of their employer. The employer enters into a contractual agreement with the SAHC who, in return, offers members a range of housing advisory support services and benefits. The SAHC structures employer-based housing support and benefits for employees, which are accessible through club membership. The SAHC assists the member to identify their housing goal based on their specific personal needs and circumstances and with consideration of their financial capability. The SAHC works with the member to map out an action plan, made up of incremental stages, towards the achievement of their housing goal. These could include the purchase or build of a new home, or the upgrade or completion of an existing one. In many cases, realization of this goal means first overcoming obstacles such as over-indebtedness or lack of creditworthiness. The SAHC aims to address these issues.
