As an inclusive academy the focus is on each child as an individual whilst fostering a sense of belonging to a rich and diverse community.The academy summarises this commitment in our motto: "Inspiring and supporting every child". This motto is then developed at sixth form to reflect a maturer student body and is summarised as: "Developing independent and accomplished learners". We are committed to developing young people who can take their place competitively, in all walks of life, as rounded, mature and confident members of modern British society. We place great emphasis on giving our students the ability to consider and make choices in life, rather than following the crowd. Each student is expected to strive for the highest level of individual success in their chosen career path.We have high expectations of our students, instilling ambition not only for academic excellence (Excelsior: “ever higher”) but for success within all areas. We firmly believe in supporting and inspiring the individual to reach his/her own potential, at whatever level that may be. We create a positive learning environment, following Sir Jack Petchey’s motto “If I think I can…I can” where students are respectful and courteous.
