I believe we that we can get so trapped in working for our jobs and fulfilling all of our work and life responsibilities that there is no time to enjoy it. As a researcher and a woman in STEM, I understand our unique challenges of building and enjoying a successful career. I spent decades on the hamster wheel, working hard (and being successful), without understanding what I was trying to achieve. My first step to enjoying my career was to literally pause and start asking myself the questions I needed to define this for myself. Wherever you are in your career - faculty, researcher - its ok to get frustrated at the system or wonder if you made the right choices. The first step to regaining your footing is to ask for help.
