The National Optometric Association (NOA) was founded in 1969 in Richmond, Virginia, with the goal of advancing the visual health of minority populations. In pursuit of this goal, we have worked to engage with various stakeholders in public health, education, optometry and ophthalmology. Since our inception, we have championed diversity, equity and inclusion in the field of optometry and have worked hand in hand with optometry schools, professional organizations and industry partners to increase minority representation in all aspects of eyecare.
