Sweet Sleep

www.sweetsleep.org

For each of us at Sweet Sleep, our story began with a mission journey to a place we had never been and knew little about. But when we got there we were able to begin to understand the overwhelming need for clean, safe places to sleep and we were able to see that the solution to the orphan crisis is well within our reach. Once we had seen, we had to respond. Our lives were deeply changed on those journeys; how will God use your experience to change you? And in doing so, how many lives will you impact and forever change as you GO. Sweet Sleep exists to demonstrate God’s love and hope in Christ to the world’s orphaned and abandoned children, improving their quality of life. In the past four years, beds deliveries have increased by 174%. For the past two years, goals were intentionally set, and were exceeded each year. It has become standard operating expectations now that the annual goal is met and that 100% of the beds are delivered before the last day of the fiscal year. Additionally, each year a new vulnerable category of children is identified and added to our target beneficiaries. Those categories began in the US with children at risk of entering the foster care system, and children recovering from natural disasters. Now in 2018, in partnership with United Way and Catholic Charities, Sweet Sleep will be providing beds to children in middle Tennessee who are coming out of homelessness. In Uganda it began with HIV positive children, and in 2017, children with special needs and disabilities were added. In 2018, Sweet Sleep will be working among refugee camps in northern Uganda, providing beds and economic development to orphaned South Sudanese refugees who are resettling in Uganda. As of fiscal year 2017, Sweet Sleep has delivered more than 27,500 beds to orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children in eight countries around the world – more that 4000 of those beds in the United States.
