Detroit Youth Volume
www.detroityouthvolume.orgDYV teaches youth ages 3-18 to play violin and viola using the world-class Suzuki method through weekly private and group lessons in Detroit Symphony Orchestra's education wing at 3711 Woodward Ave 48201. The Suzuki approach nurtures students' ability to persevere, be creative, embrace hope, and to collaborate and empathize with others. Collaborations with local artists as guest instructors develop positive cultural identities in our students as Detroiters and as youth of color (applicable to 70% of our kids). Check out the hip hop violin album released in 2016 & our 2017 project, Jazz Violin "The Detroit Way". Our 2018 project includes working with electronic music-makers to put out an electric violin album. Please consider backing this project on Kickstarter! Release party & last day of Kickstarter campaign is June 27th. Since 2010, DYV has made quality arts education free & accessible to low-income families, especially youth from Capuchin Soup Kitchen on Conner. Paying and scholarship students alike receive the same excellent music education. DYV is funded almost entirely by individual donors, small grants and supported by our fiduciary, Allied Media Projects.
