Chubu Energy Trading, a partnership between Chubu Electric Power and EDF Trading, was established in December 2007 with an aim to employ world class standards of fossil fuel procurement, risk management and commercial optimisation. Based in Nagoya, Japan and integrated with Chubu's existing fossil fuel procurement activities, Chubu Energy Trading uses coal and freight trading and risk management experience gained in the liberalised European energy markets to achieve its objectives.
