CMTUK (Charcot Marie Tooth UK) is the UK's National charity for people affected by Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT). CMT is a hereditary, progressive, neurological condition of the peripheral nervous system. In the UK it is thought to affect 25,000 people and it is the most common inherited neurological disease. CMT causes disability as the muscles in the foot, lower leg, hand and forearm waste which affects walking, difficulties with hand functions, balance and loss of reflexes. As a result causes pain, fatigue and in severe cases breathing problems. There is currently no cure.
