Throughout the years of living abroad we, a group of New York City professionals of Serbian origin, have all individually aspired towards the betterment of the Serbian community. In 2019, we joined our efforts to organize a formal gala that would gather our community around a philanthropic goal. We partnered with the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation and raised $58,000 for scholarships that were awarded to high school students with demonstrated academic achievements while facing socio-economic adversity. With an overwhelming response in just eight weeks, the event was sold to capacity. Our community confirmed there is a desire to help others and give back, which solidified our team’s ambition to do more. This is how the idea for the Serbian Philanthropic Association was born. We decided to create a platform for all of us to join our efforts as we can accomplish much more together. United by the common desire to give back we will focus on various projects and initiatives to better the Serbian community and partner with ambassadors of Serbian culture to provide better opportunities and preserve our heritage. The Serbian Philanthropic Association is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit organization.
